鼓理 Calling | Chongqing
Winner of silver at the 4th Chongqing International Light Art Festival in China.
In this work, fragments of stone respond to sound, and the humming itself becomes visible. Gǔ Lǐ – the principle of resonance – describes the hidden logic of matter, the force by which the world vibrates and interacts. The artistic intention is not to rely on clearly identifiable imagery, but instead to create visuals that are open to interpretation. By offering more than just familiar images, we can truly spark the audience’s imagination. The intriguing moment lies much more in the mere suggestion of a face and in the threshold at which the perception begins to dissolve. The idea of staging Chladni-like resonance patterns through animated grains creates a compelling connection between excellent sound design and a refined visual layer. This is how the work unfolds its impact, in moments both subtle and loud.
