studio for audiovisual art & communication

The work of studio julian hölscher emerges from the interplay between the fields of technology, art and design. We develop audiovisual art and provide strategic design competence and direction in the realm of audiovisual communication. Thus, we conceive concepts for site specific media installations around the globe – always with a keen sense for the respective context. Our competence lies in determining the core of a matter and translating it into a visual appearance. The award-winning projects are often accomplished together with our network of partners and interdisciplinary professionals. Our craft is the art of storytelling. These narratives consist of time, space, object, sound and images, which are woven into a dramaturgy or decoded into a visual identity.

In our spatial interventions we explore the boundaries between virtual and material realities through the fusion of light, sound and form.

lectureship

The teaching activities of studio julian hölscher are characterized by a strong focus on creative engagement. Students are trained in design methodology and conceptual thinking in visual communication. In addition to the practical application of motion design and projection mapping techniques, our main aim is to enable and support an insightful experience of creative and conceptual processes. Students learn to develop a fine sensitivity for place and context, to derive questions from their research and to test their vision in practical experiments.
