CRYSTAL CLOUD | Façade Projection / Fête des Lumières 2016

The audiovisual staging of the Musée des Confluences has been realized in the framework of the Fête des Lumières 2016.

For the first time, the festival route was expanded to include this architectural gem by Coop Himmelb(l)au. The architecture is chracterized by striking contrasts: chrystal and cloud, air and solid, facts and dreams. The site-specific audivisual staging picks up these superpositions and translates them into a dynamically shifting virtual guise. With mathematical precision, the sharp edges are traced, transformed and re-established. In contrast, a poetic and associative stream of images represents the museums conceptual focus: The manifold aspects of human existence, of our nature and culture, our dreams, fears and hopes. The divergent aesthetic layers merge into a mesmerizing interplay of the bold architecture and their ephemeral virtual counterpart. Located right on the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône, the installation forms a strong unit with the scenery and offers different experiences depending ont the viewer’s standpoint.
